Why Brad Pitt daughter  drop her dad’s surname.

Actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s daughter Shiloh Jolie-Pitt has filed a lawsuit to formally sever her ties to her father. In order to remove the “Pitt” from her full name, Shiloh filed a petition in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Monday, the day she turned eighteen. As per the petition that The Times examined, the teenager, whose full name is now Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, wishes to adopt the name “Shiloh Nouvel Jolie.”

The Times contacted a representative of Jolie, but they did not immediately provide a response. Pitt’s spokesperson remained silent over the petition. On May 27, 2006, Shiloh was born in Swakopmund, Namibia. Of the six children born to the former Hollywood power couple, she is the eldest and third oldest of their three biological children. They also share kids Maddox, Pax, Zahara and twins Knox and Vivienne.

Shiloh made the decision to alter her name in the midst of her parents’ acrimonious and protracted divorce. A few days after their purported violent altercation on a private plane ride returning from Europe, Jolie filed for divorce from her “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” co-star in September 2016. An FBI report said that the incident also involved several of the actors’ children. Jolie sued the federal law enforcement agency in 2022, and in that action, details of the 2016 confrontation surfaced.

The legal dispute surrounding Jolie and Pitt’s Chateau Miraval winery and former family home has further complicated the settlement of their protracted divorce. Pitt filed a lawsuit against Jolie and her business, Nouvel, in February 2022, claiming that she had sold her portion of the vineyard without his ostensible approval in order to “seize profits she had not earned and returns on an investment she did not make.” Their divorce processes have become even more difficult as a result of the legal disputes surrounding the winery and the specifics of their separation.

Shiloh’s decision to drop the Pitt name marks a significant step in her journey to define her identity independently of her parents’ public and tumultuous relationship. As she moves forward, the change may also symbolize her desire to align more closely with her mother’s side of the family amidst ongoing family conflicts. While public reactions to the name change are varied, it underscores the personal impact that her parents’ highly publicized and acrimonious split has had on their children.

Shiloh’s petition for a name change is a private choice that draws attention to the wider effects of her parents’ tense relationship on their kids. In the middle of their parents’ public arguments, it also highlights the continuous difficulties that children of well-known couples confront in negotiating their own identities. A painful reminder of the psychological and emotional fallout that can result from family strife and public scrutiny is Shiloh’s decision to take on her mother’s last name only.
