Crime & Betrayal: How a Viral Post Led to a Brutal Murder
Photographer Murdered After Making Married Woman’s Photos Viral on Instagram
A 24-year-old photographer from Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, met a tragic end after he allegedly made a married woman’s private photos viral on Instagram. The woman’s family, angered by the social media scandal, reportedly planned and executed the murder. The police have arrested two accused, including the victim’s close acquaintance.
Murder Over Social Media Scandal
The victim, Chandan Bind, was reportedly in contact with a married woman even after her wedding. He frequently called her at her in-laws’ home and attempted to meet her despite her refusal. When she distanced herself, Chandan allegedly retaliated by leaking her personal photos online. This caused unrest in her in-laws’ family, prompting her brother to take matters into his own hands.
The Brutal Plan
According to the police investigation, the main accused, Surendra Yadav, along with his cousin Rohit Yadav, orchestrated the murder. On the night of March 18, Surendra lured Chandan to an isolated agricultural field under the pretense of reconciliation. Once there, Surendra and Rohit ambushed him, stabbing him multiple times before disposing of his body in a wheat field.
Body Discovered Five Days Later
Chandan’s family grew worried when he didn’t return home. After a frantic search, his body was discovered in a wheat field on March 23. His father, Shyam Bihari Prasad, lodged an official complaint, leading the police to investigate.
Police Investigation & Arrests
Ballia police acted swiftly, arresting the two accused, Surendra and Rohit, on Monday. The duo reportedly confessed to their crime. Authorities also recovered three knives used in the murder. A case has been registered under the following sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS):
- Section 103(1) – Murder
- Section 238 – Causing disappearance of evidence and giving false information
The police have also named other suspects: Shri Bhagwan, Bali Yadav, and Deepak Yadav, all from Chandan’s village, as well as Rohit Yadav from Saran, Bihar.
Motive Behind the Murder
Chandan’s continued attempts to contact the woman, despite her marriage, reportedly angered her family. The final trigger was when her private photos were allegedly made public by Chandan on Instagram. This breach of privacy and the resulting distress in her in-laws’ family led to the revenge plot.
Social Media Crimes and Their Consequences
This case highlights the grave consequences of misusing social media. Sharing private photos without consent is not only a violation of privacy but can also lead to severe repercussions, including legal actions and, in this case, murder. Cybercrime laws in India strictly prohibit the unauthorized distribution of personal images, and such offenses are punishable under the Information Technology Act.
Legal Actions and Next Steps
The police are continuing their investigation to uncover further details about the crime and the involvement of other accused persons. They are also analyzing Chandan’s phone records and social media activity to verify the claims made by the accused.
This tragic incident serves as a harsh reminder of the dangers of social media misuse and the potential for personal conflicts to escalate into extreme violence. As legal proceedings continue, the case sheds light on the growing need for cyber awareness and personal safety in digital interactions.
