Karni Sena’s Furious Protest Turns Violent – MP’s House Targeted
Agra Violence: Mob Attacks SP MP’s Home Over Rana Sanga Remark
Tensions Soar in Agra as MP’s Home Comes Under Attack
A violent mob stormed the residence of Samajwadi Party (SP) Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Lal Suman in Agra, allegedly over his controversial remarks about Rajput ruler Rana Sanga. The attack, which took place in broad daylight, has sparked outrage and political controversy.
FIR Registered Against ‘Unknown’ Mob
The Agra police have lodged an FIR against an “uncontrolled crowd of hundreds” under serious charges, including rioting, attempt to murder, house trespass, and robbery. The complaint was filed by the MP’s son, Ranjeet Suman, at the Hariparwat Police Station.
SP Leaders Call Attack ‘Pre-Planned’
Senior SP leader Ramgopal Yadav, who visited Suman’s residence, alleged that the attack was planned in advance. He claimed that authorities were aware of the potential threat but failed to take preventive action.
Yadav Blames the Government
Yadav further criticized the administration, highlighting that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was in the city at the time of the attack, yet no timely intervention was made to stop the mob.
“The attackers came armed with bulldozers, sticks, batons, and swords, yet they faced no resistance. This clearly indicates they had government support,” Yadav alleged.
Destruction at the Scene: Cars, Windows, and Furniture Smashed
The attack took place around 1 PM near Hari Parvat Chauraha. A large group of Karni Sena activists, a caste-based group advocating Rajput pride, stormed the area, vandalizing the MP’s home.
- Several cars parked outside were damaged.
- Chairs and household items were broken.
- Glass windows of the house were shattered.
Videos from the scene show a handful of police officers trying to control the violent mob. One policeman reportedly sustained injuries.
What Led to the Attack? The Controversial Remark on Rana Sanga
The attack was allegedly triggered by a viral video of MP Ramji Lal Suman, in which he referred to Rajput ruler Rana Sanga as a “traitor” who invited Babur to defeat Ibrahim Lodi.
Rana Sanga, or Sangram Singh I, ruled Mewar from 1508 to 1528 and is regarded as a Rajput warrior who fought against Mughal forces.
Karni Sena’s Response to the Incident
Karni Sena chief Suraj Pal Singh Amu condemned Suman’s remarks, calling them an insult to Rajput history. He demanded that both Suman and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav apologize.
Karni Sena Appeals for Peace
Amu urged Karni Sena members to maintain peace and protest through democratic means.
“We do not support violence. However, if Suman feels his property was damaged, we are ready to replace his broken chairs and fix his damaged car windshields,” Amu said in a video message.
SP Announces Protest After Eid
The Samajwadi Party has announced that it will launch a protest against the attack after Eid, calling it a direct assault on backward communities, Dalits, and minorities.
Police Investigation and Next Steps
Authorities are now:
- Analyzing CCTV footage and video evidence.
- Identifying those involved in the attack.
- Reviewing police response and failure to prevent the violence.
Political Fallout and Rising Tensions
This incident has further fueled tensions between political factions, with SP leaders blaming the ruling government for failing to maintain law and order.
The Bigger Picture: Political and Social Divide
The controversy highlights ongoing social and political tensions in Uttar Pradesh, where historical narratives and caste-based pride often lead to violent confrontations.
With an FIR registered and investigations underway, the attack on SP MP Ramji Lal Suman’s house has raised serious questions about governance, security, and the volatile mix of history and politics in India. As political parties prepare for further action, all eyes are now on how the authorities handle the situation.
