In a milestone fiscal year, OYO — the world travel tech behemoth co-founded by Ritesh Agarwal — has solidified itself as the highest-profit Indian startup in FY25 with a record-shattering ₹623 crore profit after tax (PAT). The news was directly shared by the founder in an employee town hall that took place on Thursday, marking the company’s record-breaking financial turnaround and strategic growth path.

According to internal documents reviewed by the Press Trust of India (PTI), the unaudited financial results for the fiscal year 2024–25 paint a compelling picture of OYO’s resurgence. The company’s PAT rose by a staggering 172% compared to the ₹229 crore posted in FY24. But this wasn’t just a lucky quarter — the company reported its tenth consecutive quarter of EBITDA profitability, signifying a solid pattern of operational efficiency and sustainable revenue management.

Among the year’s highs was OYO’s adjusted EBITDA, which jumped to ₹1,132 crore from ₹889 crore in the last fiscal. That’s a healthy 27% year-on-year improvement, one that testifies to the firm’s operational strength and a matured business model within an industry still reeling from the pandemic’s aftermath.

Adding more luster to its bottom line numbers, OYO’s earnings per share (EPS) increased 158%, rising to ₹0.93 in FY25 from ₹0.36 in the prior year. The figures indicate enhanced value for OYO’s shareholders and stakeholders and cement its leadership position among Indian startups.

Spurred Growth in Bookings and Revenue

The OYO’s FY25 gross booking value (GBV) totaled a whopping ₹16,436 crore, growing 54% year over year. The improvement was spearheaded by improving customer confidence towards the travel industry along with OYO’s aggressive augmentation of premium spaces.

The topline of the company reached ₹6,463 crore, an increase of 20% from FY24. Growth was led mainly by the improved performance of its company-managed premium hotel chains — specifically the Townhouse Hotels, and Sunday Hotels, which have marquee investor backing from the likes of SoftBank and Oravel. These hotels are based on mid-segment and upper-mid-segment segments and are spread across India, the UK, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.

Fourth Quarter Momentum

The fourth quarter of FY25 was exceptionally lucrative. OYO’s GBV reached ₹6,379 crore in Q4 alone, growing 126% year-on-year. Revenue in the quarter amounted to ₹1,872 crore, up 41% YoY. In adjusted EBITDA terms, the company saw ₹442 crore for Q4, up 61% compared to Q4 FY24.

These numbers show not only continuing momentum but also growth accelerating, with the fourth quarter contributing over a quarter of the year’s revenue.

Global Footprint and Strategic Expansion

The presence of OYO globally is also expanding at a remarkable rate. As of FY25, OYO has about 22,700 hotels and 1,19,900 homes, offering more than 91,300 listings on its platform. It has a presence in a host of global markets such as India, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Southeast Asia, and the UK.

Notably, in the past 12 months, OYO has opened more than 30 Sunday Hotels in India and international markets like Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Southeast Asia. These openings follow the company’s strategy of appealing to higher-margin business travelers and premium leisure travelers, bolstering the brand positioning in the upper segment.

Yet another factor adding to this scale and expansion is the integration of G6 Hospitality by OYO, a strategic action that has strengthened the company’s mid-market position in the United States and globally. The takeover has provided new opportunities for OYO’s technology-enabled platform to function in more developed hotel markets, while providing affordable accommodation choices with standardized quality.

Technology-Driven Operating Model

One of the most important drivers of OYO’s profitability has been its investment in automation and AI-based tools to drive efficiency. From dynamic pricing engines to real-time demand forecasting and customer personalization engines, OYO has been able to use technology to drive occupancy rates, lower costs, and improve guest experiences.

This scalable technology platform enabled the company to keep costs of operations low even as it grew its number of hotels worldwide — a big advantage in the competitive and margin-conscious hospitality sector.

Ritesh Agarwal’s Vision Realized

Founder and CEO Ritesh Agarwal, who spoke to the team at the internal town hall, marked the company’s record performance with a note of appreciation and aspiration. Sources indicate Agarwal emphasized the need for long-term thinking, ongoing innovation, and remaining customer-centric in becoming able to attain such milestones. This record profit solidifies his vision of building OYO into a globally accepted travel tech platform from a fighting Indian startup.

Looking Ahead

As OYO enters FY26, industry analysts will closely watch whether the company can sustain this level of profitability and growth. With tourism rebounding across global markets, a larger premium portfolio, and strong unit economics, the road ahead appears promising.

In addition, with possible IPO talks set to gain momentum once again based on these numbers, OYO’s FY25 performance could well be the game-changer that pushes it into the higher rungs of world travel tech players.

OYO’s financial success in FY25 not only cemented its position as the most profitable Indian startup but also reaffirmed the sustainability of a technology-driven, asset-light business model in hospitality. As it further streamlines its offerings, scales up internationally, and uses technology to drive innovation, OYO is ready to achieve even more milestones in the years ahead.
