Bollywood actor Kirti Kulhari is all smiles as her latest film Full Plate takes center stage at the Indian Film Festival of Sydney (IFFS), serving as the festival’s prestigious opening presentation.

After making waves with its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival, Full Plate continues its impressive run with a screening at one of Australia’s leading Indian cinema celebrations. And for Kirti, it’s more than just another film festival—it’s a proud, emotional moment.

A Role That Breaks Stereotypes

In Full Plate, Kirti plays a homemaker-turned-chef who redefines the boundaries of tradition and patriarchy using the one thing that connects us all: food. The film, directed by Tannishtha Chatterjee, explores themes of resilience, faith, and the power of everyday courage. It’s a subtle but powerful commentary on how women reclaim agency through seemingly simple acts.

Alongside Kirti, the film features a stellar cast including Sharib Hashmi, Indraneil Sengupta, and Monica Dogra in pivotal roles.

“Thrilled and Proud,” Says Kirti

Speaking about the honor, Kirti said in a statement:

“I fall short of words to describe just how thrilled I am that our labour of love will open the Indian Film Festival of Sydney. There will be a lot of Indians at the festival, and it will be great to watch their reactions to the film. It will truly be a moment of pride as our film gets bigger, reaching so many people.”

The actor is attending the festival in person and will be part of post-screening events and conversations surrounding the film.

First-Time Visit to Australia

This marks Kirti’s first-ever visit to Australia, and she’s soaking in every bit of the experience. She added:

“We had a fantastic start with the world premiere at Busan, and now with this, my plate sure does seem pretty full! I have never been to Australia before, so I am really looking forward to the whole experience there.”

With back-to-back screenings and growing international acclaim, Full Plate seems to be cooking up success on a global scale.

Celebrating Women in Film

As part of the festival, the Four More Shots Please! star will also participate in a special panel discussion titled ‘Women in Film’, which focuses on celebrating female voices and stories in cinema. The panel will feature a group of industry leaders sharing their journeys, challenges, and hopes for women filmmakers and actors in a still male-dominated industry.

What’s Next for Kirti?

Kirti Kulhari has been consistently carving out a niche for herself with strong, unconventional roles. After the success of Full Plate, fans won’t have to wait long to see her on screen again.

She’s set to return in the highly anticipated **Season 4 of Four More Shots Please! and is also currently working on an untitled film that’s in production. Both projects are expected to further push the envelope when it comes to showcasing strong, multidimensional female characters.

The Team Behind Full Plate

Full Plate is backed by a strong production team, including Ashutosh Goswami and Anup Chitnis of Ashutosh Entertainments, along with Mohaan Nadaar and Ketki Pandit of Teamo HQ Productions Ltd.

The collaboration between a bold director like Tannishtha Chatterjee and a risk-taking performer like Kirti has resulted in a film that’s emotionally rich and culturally relevant—making it a perfect fit to open a festival that celebrates diverse Indian cinema.

With Full Plate opening the Indian Film Festival of Sydney, Kirti Kulhari continues her journey of telling stories that matter. From Busan to Sydney, her powerful performance is winning hearts and making audiences around the world sit up and take notice.

If there’s one thing that’s clear—it’s that Kirti’s plate is not just full, it’s overflowing with well-deserved recognition.
