Mayawati Slams Rahul Gandhi Over Delhi Polls: “Congress Was BJP’s B-Team!”

New Delhi: A fresh political battle has erupted between Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over alliance politics in India.

Responding to Rahul Gandhi’s disappointment over BSP not joining hands with Congress against the BJP, Mayawati launched a sharp counterattack, accusing Congress of being the real “B-Team” of the BJP in the Delhi Assembly Elections.

“Congress fought the Delhi elections as BJP’s B-team, which is why the BJP came to power. Otherwise, Congress wouldn’t have been in such a terrible condition where most of its candidates lost their deposits,” Mayawati posted on X (formerly Twitter).

With both parties exchanging heated words, the rift between Congress and BSP seems to be growing wider, raising questions about opposition unity ahead of future elections.

Rahul Gandhi’s Allegation: “Mayawati Refused to Join Us Against BJP”

The controversy began when Rahul Gandhi, while interacting with Dalit students in Raebareli, expressed disappointment over BSP’s absence from the INDIA bloc – an opposition coalition formed to counter the BJP.

“I wanted Behenji (Mayawati) to fight alongside us against the BJP, but for some reason, she did not. That was deeply disappointing. If all three parties had united, the BJP would never have won,” Rahul Gandhi was quoted as saying by PTI.

His remarks sparked outrage among BSP supporters, who accused Congress of hypocrisy and double standards.

Mayawati’s Fiery Response: “Congress is Casteist and Opportunistic”

Mayawati wasted no time in slamming Rahul Gandhi’s statement, accusing Congress of adopting a dual approach towards Dalits and BSP.

In a series of posts on X, she said:

“In states where Congress is strong or in power, it has an anti-Dalit, casteist attitude towards BSP and its followers. But in a weak state like Uttar Pradesh, they suddenly talk about forming an alliance with BSP. If this isn’t hypocrisy, then what is?”

She further mocked Congress’ poor performance in the Delhi elections, implying that Rahul Gandhi should focus on fixing his own party before criticizing others.

“It would be better if Rahul Gandhi looks into his own party’s failures before pointing fingers at the BSP,” she wrote.

BSP Workers Protest Against Rahul Gandhi’s Remarks

Mayawati’s supporters were quick to respond, staging protests in Raebareli – Rahul Gandhi’s parliamentary constituency.

BSP workers put up posters accusing Rahul Gandhi of ‘double standards’, highlighting his contradictory stance on Dalit issues.

What the Protest Posters Said:

. “Rahul Gandhi, enough of your hypocrisy!”
. “On one hand, you pretend to be a savior of Dalits. On the other hand, you allow Congress leaders to threaten Mayawati’s political career.”
. “Stop misleading the Dalit community for votes!”

The protests exposed deep-rooted tensions between Congress and BSP, making future political collaborations between them increasingly unlikely.

The Bigger Picture: What This Means for Indian Politics

The ongoing Congress vs. BSP battle raises several important questions about opposition unity and future elections.

1. Will Mayawati Ever Join Hands with Congress?

Despite Rahul Gandhi’s repeated appeals for an alliance, Mayawati has shown no interest in working with Congress. She has often accused the party of being anti-Dalit and unreliable.

2. Will Congress Recover from Its Poor Performance?

Congress’ failure in the Delhi elections has made it difficult for the party to claim leadership of the opposition. The question remains – can Rahul Gandhi rebuild his party’s influence?

3. What Does This Mean for BJP?

With the opposition fighting among themselves, the BJP stands to benefit the most. A divided opposition makes it easier for the ruling party to maintain its dominance.

Public Reaction: Who’s Right – Rahul or Mayawati?

As the political feud intensifies, the public is divided.

. Some support Rahul Gandhi, believing that a Congress-BSP alliance could have stopped BJP’s rise in Delhi.

. Others back Mayawati, arguing that Congress has repeatedly betrayed Dalits and cannot be trusted.

. Some believe BJP is the real winner, as opposition parties continue to fight among themselves instead of focusing on governance.

Online Poll Results:

Who is to blame for the BJP’s victory in Delhi?

  •  Congress (55%) – Many believe Congress was too weak and disorganized.
  •  BSP (20%) – Some say Mayawati should have joined the INDIA bloc.
  •  Both (25%) – Others feel opposition disunity is the real problem.

A Growing Rift in the Opposition

The war of words between Mayawati and Rahul Gandhi has once again highlighted the fractures within India’s opposition.

While Congress wants to bring BSP into its fold, Mayawati remains firmly independent – refusing to align with any party that she believes disrespects Dalits.

As India gears up for upcoming elections, the question remains:

. Will the opposition unite, or will BJP continue to win due to their infighting?

For now, one thing is clear – Mayawati is not backing down
