Heart Surgeries by Fraudster Doctor? Madhya Pradesh Hospital Lab Sealed After Deaths
Fake Doctor Performs Surgeries in Madhya Pradesh Hospital, Leaves 7 Dead: Cath Lab Sealed Amid Outrage
Madhya Pradesh Hospital Scandal Shocks India
In a chilling case that has sent shockwaves across the country, a fake doctor allegedly performed multiple heart surgeries at a hospital in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh â resulting in the deaths of at least seven patients. The man, posing as a renowned British cardiologist, was arrested earlier this week, prompting authorities to seal the hospitalâs cath lab where the deadly procedures were carried out.
Who Is the Fake Doctor?
Narendra Vikramaditya Yadav Posed as UK Heart Specialist
The accused, Narendra Vikramaditya Yadav, falsely claimed to be Dr. N. John Camm, a reputed British cardiologist. Using forged documents and fake credentials, Yadav managed to infiltrate the Mission Hospital in Damoh and performed cardiac surgeries â including angiography and angioplasty â under false pretenses.
According to local authorities, his fraudulent actions have already cost seven lives.
âAll the operations that have raised red flags were conducted in the cath lab. We have now sealed that area to secure all related evidence,â said District Health Officer Vikrant Singh Chauhan.
What Is a Cath Lab and Why Was It Sealed?
Key Site of Illegal Surgeries and Deaths
A cath lab (short for catheterization lab) is a specialized facility where heart procedures like angioplasty are performed. In this case, all the operations allegedly done by the fake doctor took place in this lab at Mission Hospital.
âAngiography and angioplasty procedures linked to the deaths were done here. Thatâs why the lab is now sealed,â confirmed Dr. Chauhan.
Victims Speak Out: âWe Thought He Was a Real Doctorâ
Ayushman Bharat Scheme Used to Lure Poor Patients
The fraudulent doctor reportedly misused the Ayushman Bharat health card scheme, which provides free medical treatment to economically weaker sections.
One of the victimsâ family members, Jitendra Singh Rajput, recounted his horrifying experience:
âMy father had chest pain. The hospital said it was a heart attack and surgery was urgent. I told them I had no money, and they said we could use the Ayushman card,â he said.
His father died following the procedure â one of several fatalities allegedly linked to Yadav.
CM Mohan Yadav Orders Strict Action
State Government Promises No Mercy
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has condemned the incident and promised swift and strict action.
âOur government does not delay in such cases. We are taking strong action. The health department has been directed to investigate thoroughly,â said the Chief Minister while speaking to the media.
He added that any other such scams in the state would also be investigated and cracked down upon.
Hospital Already Under Scrutiny
Minister Says This Isnât the First Controversy
State Minister Prahlad Patel stated that the Mission Hospital had a history of controversies, making this case even more alarming.
âThis hospital has been controversial in the past. This is a very serious matter. We must focus on justice for the victims and avoid any political drama,â Patel told ANI.
He emphasized that strict investigation must continue, and those involved â whether individuals or institutions â should be held fully accountable.
How Did This Happen? Gaps in Verification and Oversight
Fake Credentials, Real Consequences
The case has raised serious questions about hospital oversight, verification processes for visiting doctors, and misuse of public health schemes like Ayushman Bharat.
Despite claiming to be a British specialist, Yadav was never verified by any recognized authority, and reportedly forged multiple documents to gain access to the hospitalâs operation theaters and patients.
This points to serious lapses in background checks and negligence on the part of hospital administrators.
Political Reactions and Public Outrage
Medical Negligence or Criminal Fraud?
The tragedy has triggered massive public outrage, especially since it involved vulnerable patients who relied on government health programs. On social media, users have questioned how a âdoctorâ could get away with performing surgeries without credentials, and why there was no prior scrutiny by health authorities.
There is growing demand for:
-
A full audit of the hospitalâs practices
-
A review of all doctors and consultants practicing there
-
Compensation for affected families
-
Stronger checks in the Ayushman Bharat scheme to prevent misuse
A Wake-Up Call for Indiaâs Healthcare System
The Damoh hospital scandal serves as a grim reminder of the cracks in the healthcare system, especially in rural India. The case involves not only criminal impersonation, but also medical negligence, abuse of public welfare schemes, and possibly institutional complicity.
With investigations now underway and the cath lab sealed, the focus is on ensuring justice for the victims, preventing future scams, and restoring public trust in the healthcare system.
