The Raja Saab Box Office Collection Day 4: A Worrying Downfall for Prabhas

Prabhas’ much-hyped film The Raja Saab is facing a tough reality at the box office. What began as a promising global opening has quickly turned into a sharp decline, with day 4 collections raising serious concerns about the film’s future run. After failing the crucial Monday test, the movie now appears to be struggling even more than some of Prabhas’ earlier underperformers like Saaho and Adipurush.

Despite strong initial curiosity and a massive release across markets, The Raja Saab is showing signs of a rapid burnout. Let’s take a closer look at how the film has performed so far, why the drop is alarming, and what lies ahead.

Day 4 Box Office Performance: The Monday Test Fails Badly

Domestic Collections See a Sharp Drop

Monday is often considered the real test for any big film, and The Raja Saab failed to hold its ground. On day 4, the film earned just ₹6.60 crore net in India. This marked a massive 65 percent drop compared to Sunday, following earlier declines of 51 percent on Saturday and 26 percent on Sunday.

In simple terms, by day 4, the film was earning nearly 88 percent less than what it made on its opening day.

The language-wise breakup makes the situation look even worse. The Hindi version earned only ₹1.75 crore, while the Tamil version contributed a shocking ₹7 lakh. These numbers clearly indicate that the film failed to connect with audiences beyond its core fan base.

Total India Collection So Far

By the end of Monday, The Raja Saab had collected ₹114.60 crore net in India, which translates to around ₹137 crore gross. While these figures may look decent at first glance, the pace of decline is what worries trade experts the most.

Worldwide Box Office Update: ₹170 Crore and Slowing

Overseas Markets Offer Limited Relief

Overseas collections provided some initial support, especially due to a strong opening day in the United States. The film has earned over $3.5 million internationally so far. However, the momentum did not sustain beyond the first day.

With overseas numbers added, The Raja Saab has managed to reach approximately ₹170 crore gross worldwide by day 4. For a film mounted on a reported budget of ₹350 crore, this total is far from reassuring.

Opening Day vs Reality Check

A Big Opening That Didn’t Last

Interestingly, The Raja Saab still managed to earn ₹100 crore worldwide on its opening day, even though it was Prabhas’ weakest opening post-pandemic. This was largely driven by fan anticipation and curiosity around his return to a family entertainer.

However, poor word of mouth and negative reviews quickly caught up. The steep drops over the weekend clearly showed that audiences were not recommending the film strongly enough.

Comparisons With Saaho and Adipurush Paint a Grim Picture

Worse Than Previous Flops?

What makes the situation more alarming is how The Raja Saab compares to Prabhas’ earlier box office disappointments. Both Saaho and Adipurush managed to earn over ₹15 crore net on their fourth day, even after facing heavy criticism.

In contrast, The Raja Saab could not even cross half of that figure on day 4. This comparison has led many trade analysts to call the film one of the weakest performers of Prabhas’ career in recent years.

The Raja Saab’s Road Ahead Looks Tough

Can the Film Recover?

With weekday collections dropping so sharply, recovery looks highly unlikely. Big-budget films rely heavily on strong early momentum, especially in the first week. The Raja Saab has already lost that advantage.

Unless there is a sudden turnaround due to holidays, discounts, or unexpected audience interest, the film is expected to continue its downward trend.

Budget vs Earnings Gap

With a reported budget of around ₹350 crore, the film needs extraordinary numbers to even approach breakeven. Given the current pace, trade experts believe that recovering costs through theatrical revenue alone is almost impossible.

Why The Raja Saab Failed to Connect

Expectations vs Execution

One of the biggest talking points before release was Prabhas’ return to a family entertainer after more than a decade. Fans were excited to see a softer, more charming version of the star, often referred to as “vintage Prabhas.”

However, the final product did not live up to expectations. Critics pointed out weak writing, uneven pacing, and tonal confusion as major drawbacks.

Negative Reviews Hurt Word of Mouth

The film opened to largely negative reviews from critics, which played a major role in its sharp drop after day 1. In today’s social media-driven environment, poor word of mouth spreads quickly, affecting footfalls almost instantly.

About The Raja Saab: Cast and Concept

Film Details

The Raja Saab is directed by Maruthi and stars Prabhas in the lead role. The film also features a large ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, Riddhi Kumar, Boman Irani, and Zarina Wahab.

The film was positioned as a light-hearted family entertainer, a genre shift for Prabhas after years of high-octane action films following the Baahubali series.

Missed Opportunity?

While the concept generated curiosity, execution issues seem to have overshadowed the intent. What was expected to be a refreshing change turned into a disappointing theatrical experience for many viewers.

Final Verdict: A Disappointing Turn for Prabhas

The Raja Saab had the ingredients for success: a major star, wide release, and initial buzz. Unfortunately, poor reception and weak content have led to a dramatic box office collapse by day 4.

With collections now trailing behind even Prabhas’ previous flops, the film’s theatrical journey appears to be nearing an early end. For Prabhas, this marks another setback and raises questions about future project choices and audience expectations
