Border 2 Box Office Collection Day 5: Film Nears ₹190 Crore Mark

Border 2 continues to dominate the box office and proves that large-scale war dramas still hold massive appeal among Indian audiences. Starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, the film is showing impressive numbers just five days into its theatrical run.

Despite a predictable dip on its first Tuesday, Border 2 has already amassed close to ₹190 crore and is now firmly eyeing the ₹200 crore milestone. With strong word of mouth and solid occupancy in key regions, the film’s box office journey so far can only be described as powerful.

Strong Opening Weekend Sets the Tone

Day-wise Box Office Breakdown

Border 2 opened to a strong start, setting the pace right from Day 1. The film collected ₹30 crore on its opening day, indicating solid pre-release buzz and high expectations among fans of the original Border.

The momentum increased further on Saturday, with collections jumping to ₹36.5 crore. This marked a healthy growth of over 20 percent, driven by positive audience feedback and increased footfalls over the weekend.

Sunday turned out to be a game changer. The film saw its biggest single-day collection of ₹54.5 crore, registering a massive surge of nearly 50 percent. Families and mass audiences turned up in large numbers, especially in North India, where war films traditionally perform well.

Republic Day Boost Gives Film a Big Push

Monday Turns Out to Be a Surprise Winner

Republic Day proved to be a huge advantage for Border 2. On Monday, the film collected an impressive ₹59 crore, surpassing even Sunday’s numbers. This unexpected jump showed that the patriotic theme strongly resonated with audiences on the national holiday.

With this, Border 2 crossed ₹175 crore within just four days, placing it among the fastest films to reach this milestone in recent times.

Day 5 Sees Expected Dip, But Total Remains Strong

Tuesday Collections Still Keep Film on Track

As expected, Border 2 witnessed a drop in collections on Day 5, which was its first regular working Tuesday. By 7 pm, the film had earned approximately ₹11.51 crore, taking its total collection to around ₹188.51 crore.

While the dip may look sharp compared to Monday, trade experts consider it completely normal after a holiday spike. With evening and night shows still running, the final Day 5 numbers could climb slightly higher.

At this pace, Border 2 is expected to cross the ₹200 crore mark within the next one or two days.

Nationwide Performance: Where Is Border 2 Working Best?

North India Leads the Charge

Border 2 has performed exceptionally well in North Indian markets, where its patriotic theme and legacy appeal have struck a chord with audiences.

Jaipur emerged as one of the strongest centers on Day 5, recording nearly 39.5 percent overall occupancy. Afternoon shows performed particularly well, touching over 50 percent in the city.

Chandigarh followed with around 29 percent occupancy, while NCR and Lucknow recorded approximately 22.5 percent each. In most cities, afternoon and evening shows outperformed morning slots.

Metro Cities Show Mixed Response

Mumbai and Pune Slightly Behind

In major metro cities, the response has been comparatively moderate. Mumbai recorded around 17 percent occupancy, while Pune stood at roughly 16.5 percent.

Despite the lower occupancy figures, these cities had a high number of screenings, which helped maintain steady collections.

Southern Markets Remain Subdued

Limited Impact in South India

Border 2 has seen a relatively muted response in southern markets. Chennai reported around 23.5 percent occupancy, while Bengaluru stood at 14 percent and Hyderabad at 12.5 percent.

These numbers indicate that while the film has found some audience in the South, it is primarily being driven by North and Central India.

Cities like Ahmedabad and Surat emerged as the weakest-performing centers, with occupancy figures hovering in the low double digits.

Afternoon and Evening Shows Drive Collections

Across most regions, afternoon shows consistently performed better than morning slots. Evening and night shows are expected to further boost the daily totals, especially in mass belts and single-screen theaters.

The film’s strong performance during later hours suggests sustained interest and positive word of mouth among moviegoers.

About Border 2: A Bigger, Grander War Epic

Sequel to a Cult Classic

Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 is a sequel to J.P. Dutta’s iconic 1997 film Border. The film revisits the backdrop of the 1971 India–Pakistan war and presents large-scale battle sequences involving the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy.

Sunny Deol returns to the war genre that made him a household name, while Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty bring fresh energy to the ensemble cast.

Why Border 2 Is Connecting With Audiences

Patriotism, Scale, and Nostalgia

One of the key reasons behind Border 2’s box office success is its emotional connection with audiences. The film combines patriotism, nostalgia, and high-octane action, appealing to both older viewers familiar with the original Border and younger audiences experiencing the story for the first time.

The film’s large-scale action sequences, dramatic storytelling, and strong performances have contributed to its impressive run so far.

What Lies Ahead for Border 2 at the Box Office?

With the ₹200 crore milestone just around the corner, Border 2 is expected to continue its strong run through the week. The upcoming weekend could further boost collections if the film maintains its hold.

Trade analysts believe that if weekday drops remain controlled, Border 2 could go on to become one of the biggest hits of the year.

For now, all eyes are on whether the film crosses the ₹200 crore mark within its first week, a feat that would firmly cement its blockbuster status.
