The heartbreaking news sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, prompting an outpouring of grief from colleagues, admirers, and millions of fans across the globe. Throughout the day, top Bollywood celebrities gathered at the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Mumbai to pay their final respects.

Shah Rukh Khan, Govinda, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone Arrive to Pay Last Respects

As news of Dharmendra’s passing spread, some of Bollywood’s biggest names made their way to the cremation site. Shah Rukh Khan was among the first to arrive. Dressed in simple attire and wearing a white beanie, the superstar appeared visibly emotional as he stepped out to honour the veteran actor.

Govinda, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone also reached the Pawan Hans Crematorium to pay tribute. Their presence reflected Dharmendra’s far-reaching influence that spanned decades and connected multiple generations of the film fraternity.

For Ranveer Singh, the moment was especially emotional. He had recently shared the screen with Dharmendra in the film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani, where the legendary actor played Ranveer’s grandfather. Ranveer had often spoken about how much he admired Dharmendra’s energy, humility, and warmth on and off the sets.

A Star-Studded Goodbye: Big B, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Others Join

The cremation ceremony witnessed the arrival of several legendary and contemporary stars. Amitabh Bachchan, who shared an unforgettable on-screen camaraderie with Dharmendra in films like Sholay, arrived with son Abhishek Bachchan. Their presence carried emotional weight, given the rich history the Bachchan and Deol families share.

Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Shabana Azmi, Saira Bano, and Salim Khan were among the many who joined the final rites. Their attendance reflected the respect Dharmendra commanded in the industry, not just as an actor but as a person known for his kindness, generosity and grounded personality.

Generations of actors who grew up watching him, working alongside him, or being mentored by him came together to honour the icon.

The Final Days: Dharmendra’s Health Struggles

Dharmendra’s health had taken a difficult turn in the past few weeks. He was placed on a ventilator two weeks before his passing, sparking concern among fans and well-wishers. Though he showed signs of recovery and was discharged from the hospital, his condition remained fragile.

He spent his final days at home, surrounded by close family members. Despite being 89, Dharmendra had continued to stay active, enthusiastic and passionate about cinema—qualities that defined him till the very end.

Dharmendra’s Last On-Screen Appearance: Ikkis

Even at his age, Dharmendra remained committed to his craft. His final film, Ikkis, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Sriram Raghavan, is set to release on December 25, 2025.

The film is based on the real-life story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, a young and courageous soldier who played a crucial role in the Battle of Basantar during the 1971 India–Pakistan War. Dharmendra plays the role of Khetarpal’s father in the film, bringing emotional depth to the narrative through the wisdom and warmth he was known for.

The project holds added significance because it marks the big-screen debut of Agastya Nanda, grandson of Amitabh Bachchan—Dharmendra’s close friend and co-star from the golden era of Bollywood.

With Ikkis, Dharmendra leaves behind a final artistic gift to his followers—a reminder of his timeless presence and unmatched acting prowess.

A Legacy That Changed Indian Cinema Forever

Dharmendra’s journey from a small town in Punjab to becoming Bollywood’s beloved action hero is the stuff of legend. Over his decades-long career, he starred in classics such as Sholay, Phool Aur Patthar, Chupke Chupke, Satyakam, Dream Girl and countless more. His versatility set him apart—effortlessly transitioning from romantic roles to comedy to intense drama.

His charm, trademark smile, and powerful screen presence earned him a dedicated fan base that spanned generations. Filmmakers admired his natural acting style, co-stars cherished his camaraderie, and fans adored his humility.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dharmendra was known for his warmth and ability to make everyone feel valued, whether they were industry veterans or newcomers.

The Industry Reflects on an Irreplaceable Loss

Tributes have been pouring in from across Bollywood. Actors and directors have been sharing memories of their time with Dharmendra—stories of his infectious laugh, his commitment to every role, and his larger-than-life personality.

Many recall how he treated everyone with the same respect, regardless of stature or fame. His family expressed deep gratitude for the love and support extended by fans and the film community during this difficult time.

As the industry mourns, one thing remains clear: Dharmendra’s influence will continue to shape Indian cinema for generations to come.

A Goodbye to a Legend

The sight of hundreds gathering outside Pawan Hans Crematorium captured the magnitude of this loss. In a city where the film world moves fast and constantly evolves, there are a few names that remain rooted forever in its history. Dharmendra is one of those names.

His journey may have ended, but his legacy lives on—in his unforgettable films, in the actors he inspired, and in the countless hearts he touched through his art and kindness.

As Bollywood comes together to say its final goodbye, the memories of Dharmendra’s contributions, his grace and his larger-than-life personality will remain immortal.
